The new ETI Research Brio XLR Connector is an advanced step for ETI as it has taken some time for CNC machining to get to the point where the female connection can be machined to the thickness ETI Research knows is optimum for the finest sound quality possible.

For some time, XLR connectors with some type of Copper have been available, but many of the male pins have too much mass, which causes excessive capacitance and subsequently alters the sound. Some of these XLR connectors, while having Copper male connectors, were still formed with brass on the female side. The reason why is the hollow nature of the female pin was difficult to machine and a lot cheaper to make by using the original pins formed in Brass moulds.
ETI Research was still not interested because this defeated the purpose of using Copper for superior sound quality. The next step was to get female connectors made out of Copper. This was achieved by rolling flat Copper to make the female connection. This still resulted in problems when it came to uniformity because the surface contact area for inserting the male was not consistent and could make the connection unstable.
An additional problem was surface thickness. ETI Research has found the best-sounding thickness for low-voltage connectors. Going thicker or thinner negatively influences sound quality. We feel the best connector has the least effect on sound and that is what ETI Research constantly strives to achieve.
So we waited until we could manufacture what we felt was simply the best XLR connector on the market. The ETI Research Brio XLR Connector has both the male and female connectors CNC machined with optimum wall thickness and Rhodium Plated for excellent durability in long-term usage.
The ETI Research Brio XLR Connector’s refinements include:
Accommodates cables up to 13mm, or with insert installed 9mm.
